Review: Fancy Me Sampler Kit
I am very special as a massage therapist about the types of oils and lotions I like to use. Most often, I find that massage oil sold to couples and non-massage professionals tend to be incredibly inefficient, watery, and often accompanied by an over-energizing scent. So when GoodVibes offered me the opportunity to review their Fancy Me Sampler Kit, I was a little skeptical that this massage and bubble bath set would get my approval stamp.
There are four different scent options for the Fancy Me Sampler Kit: English Lavender, French Vanilla, Pomegranate Mint, and Morning Dew. The kit that I was scenting came in Morning Dew, and while the scent is less offensive than many others I’ve met, I’m still not a fan of perfume scents that go into massage products. Going with some essential oils for scent is a better, more natural approach, as many people have an aversion to synthetic scents.
Luckily, the less than spectacular scent about this set was the only thing I didn’t really love. The Fancy Me Kit comes with a2-inch bottle of Soothe Me bubble bath, a2-inch Knead Me massage lotion bottle, a2-inch Touch Me massage oil bottle, a2-inch Ignite Me massage candle, and a1-inch Rub Me massage bar, all in a decorative mesh bag.
The first thing I tried was the bubble bath. The funny thing about the bubble bath is that the little blurb on the bottle’s back indicates it’s scented with essential oils, but it definitely isn’t, as the ingredients clearly state. Although I have to admit, the confusion between essential oils and fragrance oil is mine’s personal pet peeve… so I don’t expect everybody to pounce on this inconsistency unless they specifically look for essential oils in their bubble bath.
I digress. The bubbles generated from the bubble bath of Soothe Me were beautiful. I would say that each bottle should provide a good amount of bubbles for at least four good baths. I was quite happy that the ingredients included some shea butter, as many times after a bath I feel too dry if I don’t add a little grape seed oil. The shea butter turned the bath into silky, but not greasy. Very nice.
The massage oil of Touch Me is spectacular. It is a professional grade massage oil made from the base of sweet almond oil. And I put that to the real test! If I tested a new oil on him, I asked a regular client if he’d mind. He gave me the green light after a sniff test on the aforementioned scent of Morning Dew.
Over a one-hour deep tissue massage, I used about a quarter of the bottle and I couldn’t be more pleased with how well the oil performed. His skin was sufficiently moisturized to create a perfect glide without slippery mess and without frequent reapply. With this oil on his back, I was able to use my fingers, arms and even elbows as seamlessly as I do with my usual go-to massage oil. I actually carry this bottle in my bag, just in case one of my pals has a need related to massage while we’re on the go. The small bottle fits much better in my purse than the larger bottle that I normally use during regular sessions.
The lotion of Knead Me is nice because it contains some good oils (walnut, almond, sunflower). I used it for more than one hand lotion, though, as this isn’t great for massage. It dries very fast, and for a half hour massage you’d end up going through the whole bottle. It’s simply not practical. But, this lotion does the trick for a quick refresher on dry hands and elbows.
I loved the candle of Ignite Me. It is made from soy wax (including fragrance oil) and comes in a small, round tin. During burning, the scent emitted was not overwhelming, but noticeable. The wax can be used for a fast, heated massage when the flame is blown out. I found the wax to be great for foot massage because the thick wax on the thicker skin of the foot provided a good glide without being too slippery and messy. I also found it wonderful to put after shaving on my legs!
The Rub Me massage bar is a round, flat solidified oil disk that melts when heated by your hands ‘ warmth and massage friction. It is made of butter from cocoa, butter from shea and oil from fragrance. The only inconvenience is the scent. The scent of the Morning Dew is actually a bit overwhelming and that’s why I shied away from using it a lot. But I tested it out, and it worked fantastically. Barely put a dent in it by using it for 20 minutes, so I expect it to last a long time!
Thanks again to Good Vibes for sending me the Fancy Me Sampler Kit to review, a great company for sex toys and much more!
